Vinoth Sigamani MTech

PhD Research Scholar

I started my research carrier in Dr. Johnson’s lab as a Student Intern as part of my Master’s program. Thereafter, I continued as a Research Assistant from 2019 to 2021. Since August 2021, I am pursuing my graduate program (Ph.D.) under the guidance of Dr. Johnson. My research is focused on elucidating the role of non-coding RNAs, particularly small Cajal-body associated RNAs (scaRNAs), which play a major role in biochemical modifications (e.g., Pseudouridylation) of Spliceosomal RNAs and may contribute to alternative splicing and maturation of mRNAs.

Selene Perales MS, PhD

Post Doctoral Fellow

My name is Selene G. Perales Sanchez, I completed my Ph.D. studies in Molecular Biology in 2020 from Mississippi State University. I joined Johnson Lab in July 2021 and my current research projects involve exosome studies to elucidate their therapeutic potential and stem cell reprogramming studies with emphasis on the Progeria-derived induced cardiomyocytes. In addition to that project, I am working on elucidating the roles of Lamin A and BANF1 in the cardiovascular disease pathogenesis of progeria patients using an in-vitro cardiac disease model for progeria.
